Any kind of small group works whether it is work related or sports etc.
This is for a Communications 101 class so it does not have to be complicated or advanced in any way grammatically
Reflection Paper Grading Criteria

The grading of this project will be based on your thoughtfulness and the completeness of your submissions. This paper is worth 100 points. The breakdown is as follows:
50 points are earned by completing the instructions and by thoughtfully answering the questions as posed. You are expected to show evidence of thoughtful application of the theory/ideas/concepts learned through your reading and the information from Blackboard These questions will be found in Blackboard outlined in the instructions for Reflection Paper 1.

50 points are earned by following the criteria outlined in the Written Online Assignment Criteria :
a. Clarity: focus statements on specific topic and context; give examples; avoid vague generalities or undefined terms; help others to understand without any confusion.
Ask yourself: Have I provided clear information and examples that illustrate what I am saying?
b. Accuracy: give correct information that others can verify; students should acknowledge the limits of their knowledge of their topic.
Ask yourself: Have I included pertinent facts that support what I am saying? Have read the text and read supporting materials provided; including information from these sources in my responses?
c. Precision: provide specific details to support all statements.
Ask yourself: Are the details accurate not just my opinion?
d. Relevance: students should connect comments to the issues currently under discussion by the group and help others to understand those connections.
Ask yourself: Have I provided arguments and facts that relate to the question? Have I stayed on topic?
e. Depth: address the problem in all its complexity; consider the context of the problem, its root causes, and the other issues it brings up.
Ask yourself: Have I answered the questions with deep thought, not just the obvious? Have I attempted to think about the ramifications of the obvious?
f. Breadth: consider the problem from many points of view; think of how others might understand it.
Ask yourself: Have I only considered one person’s point of view or have I looked at the questions/problems from different perspectives?
g. Logic: students should consider how their statements and assumptions work together and communicate them so that others can follow their reasoning.
Ask yourself: Have I provided a logical argument? Is it easy for my reader to understand my thought process and follow my thinking?
h. Significance: focus on the most important elements of a topic or elements that others have overlooked; avoid repeating common knowledge.
Ask yourself: Have I offered a new point of view or a different way of approaching the question/problem or have I just restated the obvious?

Could be considered as you complete this course.

Watch this Ted Talk given by comedian Michael Jr. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twSvd5bQLDw
Discuss how his posit “When we have an others-focused outward mindset, we naturally want to help them—to use our own resources and talents to make their lives better, however we can.” could be considered as you complete this course. In other words, how can changing your mindset from this speech is just an assignment in a class to one in which you use your resources and talents to help others through public speaking?
Respond to three classmates’ posts I have added 2 classmates and will add one more after more students have posted

Component #1: proposal (50 points each)

COMM 6312: Interview Assignment
Component #1: Proposal (50 points each)
Goal: To describe your interest in the project, introduce research questions, explain why interviewing is an appropriate method for this topic, introduce potential research participants, and submit a publish of a question guide and consent form.
Guidelines
1. Prepare a 2-4 page paper that introduces your topic and explains why interviewing is an appropriate method. This paper should include citations from at least three (3) academic books or articles. These citations should focus on existing literature related to your topic and using interviewing as an appropriate qualitative research method.
2. Include a question guide that has approximately 8-12 questions.
3. Provide in-text citations and a works cited page of at least three (3) citations (in APA format- 7th edition).
4. Fill out the IRB Consent form in red sections 1-5 only (I will attach it below). It is just a practice to know how to fill out.
My topic: Explore the Avoidance in Communication with Asian Parents about Sensitive Topics (Sexual Conversation, Marriage, Health Status, etc,…)
I already did a Literature Review Paper in another class about this topic but it’s more around this area: “Explore the Avoidance in Communication between Teenagers and Parents about Sexual Conversation: A Comprehensive Critical Literature Review”. I will attach the file below. Even though it’s not about the topic I chose for this proposal assignment, please kindly take a look.
If the writer has any questions or confusion about the assignment, please let me know ASAP. Thank you.

Using critical race theory to critique how black women’s hair is portrayed in the media and what it can say about how black women’s hair is stereotyped.

You will write a 4-6 page (double spaced) paper, utilizing a theory of your choice and applying it to any given context. You can use a theory from our textbook, one we have discussed in class, or any communication theory of your choice (I’m happy to help you with this). You will construct an argument/thesis, create a brief literature review/background of your theory and context, and then explore and describe your argument. You can critique a theory, explore what a theory can teach us about a new context, etc. The main point of this paper is to practice writing organization, research, and practical theory application (this can be confusing to do, especially in the beginning, so make sure you watch the writing video if we are not in class). Paper should contain 4-6 academic citations cited in APA, although more citations are welcomed and encouraged.
Because media is everywhere, picking a topic can feel overwhelming. I will list some past paper topics below from previous classes (please choose a topic that is similar to these types of theories, but not the exact same topics as listed below):
Using the Looking Glass Self Theory to attempt to explain some of Kanye West’s public behavior in the past few years.
Critiquing Avatar: The Last Airbender real-life movie using Social Identity Theory, discussing why all of the actors were white.
Using The Male Gaze theory or Face Theory to discuss influencers on Instagram.
Using Critical Race Theory to critique how black women’s hair is portrayed in the media and what it can say about how black women’s hair is stereotyped.
Please include works cited page!

Question 2:

The African proverb that says “it takes a village to raise a child” suggests that there is something valuable in the concept of a global village, a village where relationships are built and cultivated. Scholars have long associated community connection with relationship building and with a sense of identity formation. The global village offers a network whereby perceptions, values, and beliefs affect and influence our lives.
Media ecology theory is the study of media, technology, and communication and their effects on the human environment. Marshall McLuhan first posited the idea of media ecology in 1962 when he suggested that media had the power to shape the human experience. McLuhan believed that mediated environments could directly change communication and its contexts and constructs.
Question 1:
Explain how McLuhan’s concept of a “global village” supports and validates with the basic assumptions of media ecology.
Question 2:
Explain how the correlation between communication technology and human interaction, perception, and understanding occur.
Question 3:
Describe how media ecology might be applied to Over-the-Top (OTT) networks such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOMax, and Shared Cultural Memory.
You are expected to provide a reasoned, well-researched substantial response to each question. Textual support for all claims, in-text citations, and references are required. A minimum of 20 scholarly/peer-reviewed citations is required. Use APA Style.
