Essay Question: Review the relationship between Indigeneity, Indigenous rights and activism. 2000 words (+ or – 10%) Must be written in argumentative essay style – aiming to prove that there is a relationship between Indigeneity, Indigenous rights and activism, particularly that the Indigenous worldview and relationship to the natural world makes Indigenous people inherent advocates for the natural world. Should focus on Australian Indigenous peoples (including Torres Strait Islanders), but also include relevant examples from other countries such as American and Canadian First Peoples, African Indigenous-majority countries (e.g. Kenya) etc. Would like to include at least one example where Indigenous activism lead to a positive outcome for the relevant Indigenous peoples and the wider community and one example example where Indigenous activism resulted in a negative outcome for the relevant Indigenous people/s. Use a mix of historical examples (especially from first/contact and initial colonisation times) and more contemporary examples please.
